Hello...and welcome!!
Campus Ministries at Vincennes University, strives to evangelize the lost, edify the
saved, and to be a conscious in the university community.  We see ourselves as
the liaison between area churches and the Vincennes University community. That
is why -it is vital for us to be able to work together,in ministering to this community.

Campus Ministries is supported regionally by the United Methodist South Indiana
Conference, Presbyterian Church (USA) Synod of Lincoln Trails, Disciples of
Christ Indiana Conference, and United Church of Christ Kentucky-Indiana
Conference. We are additionally supported locally by the churches of the above
mentioned denominations and the Church of God (Anderson).

Why churches need Campus Ministries
People between the ages of 18-26 are virtually gone from many congregations.
Many churches try very diligently to reach this age group, but often times it is very
difficult.  It is very staff intensive and expensive for a local congregation to have a
campus ministry that could match the level  of a shared ministry such as Campus
Ministries provides. Instead of each church trying to have its own ministry to
college students, the idea with Campus Ministries at Vincennes University is that
area churches work together to provide a quality ministry to college students and
faculty.

Additionally:
- Campus ministry is a major feeder for ministry and leadership, in the
denominations.

- Most of our young adults attend state schools for their higher education.

- Campus ministry helps recruit students to other supporting denominations.

- Money combined with other mainline denominations, has a greater ability to
reach students.

- During college individuals are making important life decisions that will...
a) keep them involved in a denomination,
b) introduce them to a faith system, or
c) remove them from the faith family.

- We need to maintain and take responsibility for our ecumenical commitment.

- A lack of commitment of resources undermines the credibility of our ecumenical
commitment.

- How we minister to young people during the higher education years may well be
the most critical influence, and effect on the future viability of the mainline Church
in the USA.

- We stand to lose many of our young people to church groups if we don’t continue
to have a strong mainline presence in campus ministry.
